The Galaxy S range is Samsung’s flagship line, and the whole point of it is the camera system. Every S phone carries a dedicated telephoto lens with real optical zoom, which no Galaxy A phone has at all. The Ultra models carry two of them.
You also get wireless charging, IP68 water resistance, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader that works with wet hands, and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that adapts its refresh rate down to save battery when the screen is still.
Buying one refurbished is where the range makes sense. A flagship loses a large part of its price in the first year and almost none of its ability, so a two-year-old S phone outshoots a new mid-range handset at the same money.

Which Galaxy S should you buy?
- Standard model, for example the S23 or S24. The compact one. Same main and telephoto cameras as the Plus, smaller screen, smaller battery.
- Plus model. The same phone with a larger screen, a larger battery and faster charging. On the S23 Plus that also means 256GB as the starting storage rather than 128GB.
- Ultra model. Two telephoto lenses instead of one, a much higher resolution main sensor, a QHD+ screen, and a built-in S Pen from the S22 Ultra onwards.
- FE model. Samsung’s Fan Edition. Keeps the telephoto lens and the wireless charging at a lower price than the standard model.
If you are weighing this range against the cheaper one, our A series against S series comparison puts the two side by side using real specifications. If you are deciding between Samsung and Apple, try iPhone against Samsung Galaxy.
Condition and cover
Every device is fully tested before dispatch and graded for cosmetic condition. A grade describes how a phone looks, never how it works, and our guide to refurbished phone grades explains what each one means.
All devices carry a 12-month warranty, with 14 days to change your mind and 30 days to report a fault. Free tracked standard delivery across the UK, arriving in 2–3 days, or next-day delivery for £7 when you order before 11 AM.
